Cut for Time: Christmas Romance
The setup
The premise
Here’s the bit.
When a quiet young man rings Amy Adams's doorbell on a snowy night, she covers for him with her husband inside by claiming it is carol singers, while a boombox plays Silent Night. He then begins flipping through hand-lettered cards in the style of the famous Love Actually scene, but his tender message keeps derailing: compliments give way to a boast about cooking the perfect ham, a garbled attempt at a classic romantic line, fears about dancing skeletons, an unsettling memory involving the women's locker room and a growing fixation on hot dogs. Adams, struggling to keep a straight face, stops to ask what he is even doing there, works out where his real passion lies and points out that the movie dog his father supposedly voiced never spoke. When he finally asks for her answer, she gently turns him down and he cheerfully heads off into the night.
