Dance of the Snowflakes
The setup
The premise
Here’s the bit.
Dr. Gene Halderman welcomes the crowd to the Dearborn Community Playhouse's first annual holiday pageant, proudly crediting months of hard work, and introduces the Dance of the Snowflakes. As he and three other adults in enormous snowflake costumes bounce through a childlike routine, close-ups catch each frozen grin while their private thoughts turn to horror at how foolish the number is. Every dancer assumes the others are still enjoying it, and their silent regrets snowball from family and coworkers watching in the audience to the sacrifices they made to be there and the indignities of their tight costumes. The four briefly talk themselves into believing the show is a triumph, only for one last embarrassing problem to resurface as the number ends.

Say it with us
Highly quotable.
How can a person be so sure something is great for two months and then in a split second know the exact opposite is true?
I'm a 48-year-old black snowflake.
Now they say Gene Halderman, doctor slash dancer.
A little extra
Notes from the archive.
In 2015 a cut-for-time follow-up surfaced in which host Dwayne Johnson joined the same community theater's adult performers for a springtime Dance of the Daisies.

Gene Halderman
Good evening. Welcome to Dearborn Community Playhouse's first annual holiday pageant. Thank you. My name is Gene Walderman. A lot of you may know me as your doctor, but tonight I'm just one of the performers in the show you're about to see. This show is the culmination of a lot of hard work and a lot of sacrifice, and we're really proud of it so now without further ado please enjoy the dance of the snowflakes

My wife's never going to want to see my penis again, especially not since it's been bunched up in this tight-ass unitard. I really got to stuff it in there, too. I have to fold it. Oh, god, now I'm thinking about my penis. Oh, it's getting a boner. Oh, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no. I got to turn around.
