The Undecided Voters

The setup

A sober campaign-style ad introduces America's last undecided voters, whose burning questions show they know almost nothing about the election.

The premise

Here’s the bit.

Styled as a serious political spot for the 2012 race, the ad has spokeswoman Catherine explain that the small group of voters still undecided won't be won over by spin and want real answers first. Those answers turn out to be about the basics: a man in his kitchen asks when the election is, a jogger wants the names of both candidates, Jonathan wonders who the current president is, and a young couple worries that the term might last for life. Their questions keep sliding into confusion about whether women or men can vote, what oil actually is, whether French kissing can cause pregnancy and whether burping, farting and sneezing at once is fatal, before Catherine closes by saying they still want answers and a disclaimer credits Low-Information Voters of America.

Say it with us

Highly quotable.

If it's for life, frankly, we're not comfortable with that. We don't need to be electing a dictator.

Can a woman have a baby just from French kissing?

If you burp, fart and sneeze at the same time, will you die?

This election will determine the future of our country. And this election will be determined by the undecided voter.

  2. 00:08

    Catherine

It seems that more than 96% of voters have already made up their minds about this election. Well, I guess some of us are just a little bit harder to please. We're not impressed by political spin or 30-second sound bites. Before you get our vote, you're going to have to answer some questions. Questions like...

  3. 00:30

    David

When is the election? How soon do we have to decide?

  4. 00:33

    Andrea

What are the names of the two people running? And be specific.

  5. 00:39

    Jonathan

Who is the president right now? Is he or she running? Because if so, experience is maybe something we should consider.

  6. 00:47

    Ben

How long is a president's term of office? One year? Two years? Three years? Or life?

  7. 00:54

    Sarah

If it's for life, frankly, we're not comfortable with that. We don't need to be electing a dictator.

  8. 01:01

    Albert

What happens if the president dies? Has anyone thought about who would replace him? What's your plan, gentlemen?

  9. 01:07

    Andrea

Can women vote? Because if not, as a woman, I've got a big problem with that. And by the way, if men can't vote, in my opinion, that's just as wrong.

  10. 01:20

    Jonathan

We hear a lot about our dependence on foreign oil. But just what is oil, and what is it used for?

  11. 01:27

    David

Can a woman have a baby just from French kissing?

  12. 01:30

    Ben

If you burp, fart, and sneeze at the same time, will you die?

  13. 01:35

    Albert

    Where's my power cord?

  14. 01:37

    Catherine

We are America's undecided voters. There's still a lot we don't know.

  15. 01:42

    And we want answers.
