The premise
Here’s the bit.
Host Dan Fernando and his assistant, the lovely Lucy, welcome viewers back to the 2012 Psychic Awards, where Dan keeps correcting himself into certainty and touting the power of the mind. The award for best foreign psychic goes to Ayergen Ghost, who is unsurprised by his win, thanks an unnamed someone in the room, briefly pretends to channel a grandmother's spirit and then fumbles his way off the stage. Lucy introduces a tribute to the psychics and magicians the community will lose in the coming year, and a mournful montage forecasts each death on screen, from a hit-and-run and a sawing-in-half gone wrong to bird flu, diabetes and a blimp, while the doomed performers react in horror from their seats. The reel closes by predicting a fire that will claim the entire audience, and moments later Dan accidentally sets the stage curtain alight.
