Crazy Lady Yelling from a Window
The setup
The premise
Here’s the bit.
Two friends hang out on a city stoop swapping stories while a woman in the window above, Mrs. Johnson, screams at them to leave. They dismiss her as the neighborhood nut, but every time they mention baseball, pizza, gambling or money, she interrupts with a precise, encyclopedic correction before ordering them away again. As her knowledge keeps growing more impressive, one of the guys starts to wonder whether she is more genius than crazy, and finally asks how she knows so much. Her deadpan answer about her father's job, and the comeback it earns, leaves her new theory about her own sanity unresolved and her threats just as loud.

Oh, man. You should have seen Tyrell, man.
- 00:04
He booked it out of there so fast.
- 00:06
And it was just a squirrel?
- 00:07
Yeah, it was like a tiny baby squirrel, man.
- 00:09
And Tyrell's like...
- 00:12
Hey! It's the middle of the...
- 00:17
Leave us alone, Mrs. Johnson.
- 00:19
Mm-hmm. Now get on out of here!
- 00:23
That's old Mrs. Johnson, man. She's just crazy.
- 00:25
Yeah, sounds like it.
- 00:27
Yeah. Hey, did you see the Yankee game today?
- 00:30
Oh, Andy Pettit is just dominating this season, right?
- 00:33
Yeah, keep it down.
- 00:36
Besides, Andy Pettit can't sustain a low ERA
- 00:40
if he keeps walking so many batters.
- 00:43
Would you relax, Mrs. Johnson?
- 00:45
Mm-hmm. Now get out of here!
- 00:46
here!
- 00:49
Man, she's just a crazy lady talking nonsense.
- 00:51
Yeah. Want to go get a slice over at Marcos?
- 00:53
Oh, hell yeah.
- 00:54
You know what makes that pizza great?
- 00:56
The crust.
- 00:58
Hey! It ain't the crust. It's the sauce.
- 01:01
They use real San Marzano tomatoes
- 01:03
from the volcanic soil of Mount Vesuvius.
- 01:06
Oh, hush up.
- 01:07
Mm-hmm. Now, get off!
- 01:08
way from here!
- 01:11
Kooky, Mrs. Johnson, man.
- 01:13
You know, I heard they keep her chained up in there.
- 01:15
Because one time, she escaped and ran down the city hall
- 01:17
and started exposing all kinds of corruption.
- 01:19
And then she introduced some bill
- 01:21
to revolutionize the tax code.
- 01:23
Just crazy stuff, man.
- 01:25
Yeah. Yeah, is that crazy?
- 01:27
I mean, it sounds kind of smart, you know?
- 01:30
Hey, how about this, man? You want to go down to the dog track?
- 01:32
Yeah, I just got paid. Come on, let's double up.
- 01:36
You should take that money, put it in a Roth IRA,
- 01:39
and invested in an international small-cap mutual fund.
- 01:42
Those stocks are 25% off their 52-week high,
- 01:45
but their fundamentals are still impressive.
- 01:48
Mrs. Johnson.
- 01:50
Mm-hmm. Now, get from around here!
- 01:53
Man, man.
- 01:58
Man, that lady belongs in a mental hospital.
- 02:01
I don't know, man. She seems to know a lot of stuff.
- 02:04
A lot of stuff about being a loon.
- 02:06
A loon is a medium-sized water bird.
- 02:09
Not to be confused with the sea ghost.
- 02:11
Not yet!
- 02:13
You see what I'm saying?
- 02:16
If you see what you're saying,
- 02:18
you might be suffering from a condition
- 02:20
known as synthesiasia.
- 02:22
Now get going!
- 02:26
You know, she might be less of a crazy person
- 02:28
and more of a, you know, like a genius.
- 02:30
According to the Greek philosopher Aristotle,
- 02:33
there was never a genius
- 02:35
without a tincture of madness.
- 02:36
Now get!
- 02:39
Mrs. Dazza.
- 02:40
Johnson is derived from the Hebrew word
- 02:44
meaning gift of God.
- 02:46
Leave me be now!
- 02:49
Mrs. Johnson, why in the hell do you know all this stuff?
- 02:54
My
- 02:57
My
- 02:58
daddy used to sell Wikipedias.
- 03:03
You know, Mrs. Johnson,
- 03:04
you can get Wikipedia online for free.
- 03:06
I know.
- 03:08
That's why we was always so poor.
- 03:11
Oh.
- 03:12
Yeah.
- 03:13
Really puts things into perspective.
- 03:16
Maybe I'm not so crazy after all.
- 03:19
Now, get out of here before I kill you!
- 03:21
Oh, hey, all right, hey, all right.

One more couldn’t hurt.
