Pat "Sully" Sullivan, in a cream tux and top hat, narrates the Lexington High fall formal for the video yearbook with his girlfriend Denise, who has smuggled in hot dog buns soaked in vodka. Their melodramatic friend Maureen arrives in a panic: her boyfriend Scottie is in federal custody over a suspicious powder he mailed to a teacher, and she fears she will cheat on him with another boy before the night is out. Denise coaches her to stand on her own while Sully trades insults and make-out sessions with his girlfriend. The couple pose for a pushy photographer in front of a backdrop combining autumn leaves and Congress, and Sully reveals a Red Sox tribute painted on the back of his rented tux. Maureen then returns, convinced she has been poisoned by Frankie's spiked drink, Frankie claims his cat's medicine has given him X-ray vision, and teacher Miss Polaski arrives to catch Sully with the contraband buns.
