The premise

Here’s the bit.

Over a scrapbook title card, Jack Handey narrates a memory from his boyhood: a big old house on his block that he and the other kids were sure was haunted, because screams came from inside and visitors never seemed to leave. Young Jack and a friend stare up at the lamplit mansion at dusk while the camera creeps over its windows and doors. The answer arrives in broad daylight, as police haul a snarling man in a vest down the front steps and attendants carry out covered stretchers, and the narrator calmly explains it was simply a murderer's house. The scrapbook closes.
