In a busy bar, a man in a white suit lights a cigarette while a woman in a white dress sits with her date at a nearby table. When their eyes meet, the room fades into the background and the pair glide toward each other without a word. What begins as a few elegant steps by the tables becomes a full ballroom number in the manner of an MGM musical: they spin across the dance floor, step over the studio seating, cross onto the show's main stage in front of the curtain and swoop past the studio audience, with lifts, dips and kicks played completely straight. When the music ends they drift back into the bar, he hops over a table on the way, and they settle into their separate seats as though nothing happened.
