The premise
Here’s the bit.
The members of Titannica arrive at a hospital to cheer up Adam, a devoted fan who jumped into a vat of acid after playing their song "Try Suicide." Adam is thrilled, and the band hands over a backstage pass, a T-shirt, a studded wristband and a cap, until he insists on uncovering himself and reveals that the acid has left him a head on a tiny, spindly brown body. The band keeps up a show of enthusiasm while he plans to join them on tour, then huddles to agree they cannot take him on the road. Their solution is a tribute: the sketch ends with the band's brooding music video for a new song, "Try Again (Adam's Song)," followed by a memorial card for Adam.

Notes from the archive.
Blink-182's "Adam's Song" was named as a tribute to this sketch, which David Cross confirmed in a 2015 Pitchfork interview. Brian Posehn's first draft fell flat at the writers' read-through; giving Adam a tiny puppet body was Bob Odenkirk's idea, and Odenkirk has called the reveal the biggest audience laugh he ever heard. Cross worked the puppet arms while Jay Johnston operated the legs from under the bed.
