The premise

Here’s the bit.

The Food Channel's Cooking with Kenny & James sets up a special Thanksgiving edition in the kitchen of the Have-A-Heart Rescue Mission, with Kenny Rogers in Pilgrim clothes and James Brown, Jr. in fringed buckskin. Backed by the dancers Spoon and Tang and a horn section dressed as Pilgrims, James keeps erupting into shouts and dance breaks while Kenny walks viewers through mixing the stuffing and stuffing the birds, aided by on-screen recipe cards with some questionable ingredients. The shelter residents grow restless as the demonstration drags on, and when Kenny announces the turkey still needs six and a half hours in the oven, they protest. Once the hosts finally present a roasted bird, the diners rush the kitchen and leave Kenny holding what remains of it.

Say it with us

Highly quotable.

You know, Mama Rogers used to always tell me to think of folks less fortunate at least one time a year.

In just six and a half hours, we're gonna have ourselves one tender bird.

Six and a half hours? We can't wait!
