That One Guy Who Still Says "These Nuts"
The setup
The premise
Here’s the bit.
When a coworker brings Vince Graham the quarterly analysis he asked for, Vince answers with the “these nuts on your chin” comeback he has been repeating for a week, and he does it again for every remark about low earnings, every offer to listen and every complaint that the bit has stopped being funny. Even when an assistant arrives with news that his parents were in a car crash, leaving his mother dead and his father on life support, Vince folds each detail into the joke until his colleague screams at him to snap out of it. Shaken back to himself, Vince admits the gag seemed to fit every situation, and the two bicker over whether it was ever funny before he leaves. Under a swelling dramatic score he travels by cab and plane to the hospital, where his dying father spends his last breath on the same punchline.
