That One Friend Who Makes Everything Awkward
The setup
The premise
Here’s the bit.
Four coworkers are chatting about comic book movies at an outdoor lunch table when one admits that he doesn't care for Christopher Nolan's Batman films. A colleague meets the remark with a string of empty filler responses, smirking at the other two men each time, and the speaker starts taking every one apart, explaining exactly why it adds nothing to the conversation. Each attempt to escape with another stock phrase or a glance at the others only makes the speaker press harder, until he holds the man's face and demands that he share just one opinion about anything. Cornered, the colleague confesses that he has no opinions and simply likes whatever everyone else likes, then collapses in sobs and begs the group not to look at him.

Say it with us
Highly quotable.
It's not awkward, at least not until you said "awkward." Now it's awkward, because of what you said.
When you say "anyway," then you have to follow it up with an actual contribution to the conversation we're having.
I don't have an opinion, and that's why I just like everything that everyone else likes in pop culture.

Speaker 1
