Someone's Gotta Say It
The setup
The premise
Here’s the bit.
In a dim, red-lit dive bar, two bearded good old boys, one in a camouflage cap and the other in a Confederate-flag cap, lean in over their beers as if about to vent about Mexicans. Each time one of them braces to say the unsayable, the bold opinion turns out to be admiration: Mexican immigrants hold up the economy and have strong family values, Asian Americans are the best-educated and highest-earning group, Black Americans overcame slavery and segregation to become CEOs and even president, and Native Americans were here first and are owed something. As they finish what turn out to be non-alcoholic beers, the details keep undercutting the stereotype: one has just adopted his eleventh child after volunteering for earthquake relief in Haiti, and the other is told it is unfair that his wife earns two-thirds of his pay for the same job, since they are both librarians, before the pair head out of the bar.
The funny people
Meet the cast. 2
Say it with us
Highly quotable.
If 12% of the Mexicans who live in this country stopped working, just 12%, the USA would shut down.
That's not bad for a non-alcoholic beer.
We're both librarians.

Oh, well, well, well. Fucking Mexicans. Oh, man, do not get me started on the Mexicans.
- 00:14
Hey, I'll just say it. They hold the goddamn economy together.
- 00:21
Redneck in Camo Cap ?
You know what, man? Damn straight. If 12% of the Mexicans who live in this country stopped working, just 12%, the USA would shut down. I don't even care who hears me.
- 00:32
Nope. They work their asses off...
- 00:36
Mm-hmm. And they got strong family values.
- 00:39
Essential immigrants.
- 00:41
Hey, speaking of immigrants, how about damn Asians?
- 00:45
Man, fuck it. You know what, brother? You want to light that fuse? Then you better stand back, because I got something I want to say about those motherfuckers. I got three words for you. Estudious, hardworking, industrious.
- 00:57
Damn straight. Asians are the highest income, best educated, and the fastest-growing racial group in the U.S. of A.
- 01:07
Redneck in Confederate Flag Cap ?
Mm. Plus, got the highest percentage of college graduates in the country.
- 01:12
Redneck in Confederate Flag Cap ?
Good for them.
- 01:13
And I... Maybe this makes me sound racist, but those motherfuckers, they're gonna save the country.
- 01:20
There it is. You went and said it.
- 01:22
I just said it. I just came right the fuck out and said it. It was in everyone's mind, but I'm the one who said it.
- 01:27
Hey, and you know what? While we're at it, I'm gonna break my spine tip-tap, dancing, wancing, prancing around the elephant in the room.
- 01:37
Yep.
- 01:37
Blacks. Fucking blacks.
- 01:40
Blacks. Fucking blacks.
- 01:41
You know what you done done did? You opened up the floodgates now, my friend. Released the Kraken.
- 01:47
Goddamn victims of institutionalized racism. It is not all that.
- 01:52
They overcame the slavery and the segregation just to become CEOs and entrepreneurs.
- 01:59
Hey, one of them's got a starring president.
- 02:02
And, I mean, that's just true right there. That's just historical fact, man. Can't even argue that.
- 02:08
Redneck in Confederate Flag Cap ?
Oh, how about the Indians? Fucking Native Americans. I don't know if I could get in trouble these days for saying something like this. But they were here first. It may be unpopular, but it's true. We came to this country, and we steamrolled on in, and we genocided them. I mean, hell, we owe them something.
- 02:30
There you go.
- 02:33
I got to tell you, man, that's not bad for a non-alcoholic beer. Not bad at all. All right, I got to go home, take care of my kids.
- 02:41
How many of them you got now?
- 02:43
Just adopted the 11th. Oh. Can't help myself. Man, that's always what happens when you volunteer for the earthquake relief in Haiti.
- 02:50
Yeah, yeah, yeah. And what you gonna do? What you gonna do?
- 02:54
You know, my wife makes two-thirds of what I make.
- 02:56
What? Y'all got the same job, man. That's just patently unfair.
- 03:00
That's right. We're both librarians.
- 03:03
Nerds.
- 03:03
You all right?
- 03:04
I'm okay.
