A VERY GOOD USE OF YOUR TIME.

The setup

The premise

Here’s the bit.

Moments after the final whistle, a Channel 17 reporter grabs Rhinos rookie defensive end Ozamataz Buckshank, whose last-second interception return for a touchdown won the game. Whatever he is asked, whether about the decisive play, the quarterback's tells or the previous week's painful loss, Ozamataz recites the same media-trained talk of executing, taking it play by play and giving 100 percent. The reporter steers him to a personal topic, the twins he and his wife just had, and gets the same stock reply, then tests him with questions about how he got to the stadium and what he ate for dinner, which only produce more of the same. Finally pleading for a single original thought about a game he won almost by himself, he gets the same answer yet again and breaks down cursing on live television.

I am here with Azmataz Bugshank, the rookie out of Stanford University, who is undoubtedly the MVP of today's game with an interception that he runs back for a touchdown in the last 30 seconds of the contest. Azmataz, can you walk us through what happened on that last play? It was amazing.

  2. 00:15

    Ozamataz Buckshank

Yeah, we knew we had to go out there, give 100%, we executed, it just went our way today.

  3. 00:20

    Reporter

And was the quarterback giving you any clues today, Az? It looked like you knew that ball was gonna be there. What was happening?

  4. 00:26

    Ozamataz Buckshank

Knew we wanted to have some fun, you know, execute. Execute, play one quarter at a time, give 100%,

  5. 00:31

    100%.

  6. 00:32

    Reporter

OK, OK, you know, let's just talk about last week's game. You guys lost a heartbreaker. Give me your state of mind then versus now.

  7. 00:40

    Ozamataz Buckshank

Wanted to do play by play, give it 100% execution-wise. Execute.

  8. 00:45

    Reporter

OK, I'm going to ask you something completely different that's not about football. Look at me, Oz. Just look at me for a second. I'm going to ask you a question. Right here, that a boy. So you and your wife recently had, right here, stay with me. You and your wife recently had twins, OK? OK, how does it feel to be a new dad?

  9. 00:59

    Ozamataz Buckshank

You know, we wanted to stay as a team, execute, give 100% play-by-play.

  10. 01:04

    Reporter

OK, you know what? I'm just going to do a little test right now. Hey, Oz, how'd you get to the game today?

  11. 01:11

    Ozamataz Buckshank

    They're a good team, great team, 100%.

  12. 01:15

    Reporter

And what'd you have for dinner last night?

  13. 01:17

    Ozamataz Buckshank

    100%

  14. 01:17

    Reporter

    of 100%.

  15. 01:18

    Reporter

Yeah, you did, of course, 100% of whatever 100% was. You know what? Can you just do me a favor and tell me one specific thing, like just one actual original observation that you had about today's game. The game that you won, almost single-handedly. Do you think that you could do that, Oz?

  16. 01:36

    Ozamataz Buckshank

    Oh, 100%.

  17. 01:37

    Reporter

    Oh, goddammit!
