The premise

Here’s the bit.

In Germany in 1942, a Nazi colonel searching for two Black men visits a house occupied by a pair of conspicuously made-up Germans. They maintain their elaborate disguises and invented identities while he subjects them to a series of supposed racial tests, from measuring their heads to offering beets and dangling a cat toy. Their composure persuades him to leave, despite several slips in their performance. Once he drives away, the men drop the act, but the toy he has left behind proves too tempting to ignore.
