The premise

Here’s the bit.

Arthur John Priest arrives at Death’s judging desk and describes working aboard the Titanic. Death assumes the sinking must have killed him, but Priest survived. Further accounts of ships lost in wartime bring the same answer, leaving Death increasingly astonished. When Priest finally reveals that he died years later from pneumonia in bed, Death dismisses his ordinary demise and redirects him to a different queue.

A little extra

Notes from the archive.

Before the shipwrecks recounted in the sketch, the real Arthur John Priest also survived the 1911 collision between Olympic and HMS Hawke.
