The premise

Here’s the bit.

Pythagoras arrives for his afterlife interview and first has to correct Death’s muddled attempt to recall his famous theorem. He then explains how his religious movement’s unusual rules proved fatal when a field of beans stood between him and escape from his pursuers. Death is delighted by the contrast between the philosopher’s cleverness and his disastrous choice. He grants Pythagoras passage onward amid a succession of bean puns, before directing a final joke at his bandaged assistant.

Say it with us

Highly quotable.

We Pythagoreans aren't allowed to touch beans, so I refused to go in.
