The premise

Here’s the bit.

In the Measly Middle Ages, the newly dead jostle in a queue at Death's check-in desk. Death processes a crusader so routine that he just writes ditto on the form, then a drowned victim of the European floods of 1315 and a soldier cut down at the start of the Hundred Years' War, each arrival making the paperwork worse. When a crowd of Black Death victims points out that millions more are on the way, Death announces he is quitting, and when the queue asks what else someone so mean, nasty and sickly-looking could possibly do for a living, he settles on becoming a headmaster.

Say it with us

Highly quotable.

It's these Middle Ages, they're so gory, everyone's dying!

I'm fed up with all this dying. I quit.

I could always become a headmaster.

A little extra

Notes from the archive.

Wikipedia and the Horrible Histories wiki list this as the Measly Middle Ages Stupid Deaths instalment of Series 1, Episode 11; the same episode also has a separate Groovy Greeks Stupid Deaths instalment about General Pausanias.
