Da Vinci Was Indian
The setup
The premise
Here’s the bit.
A young man is thrilled to finally see the Mona Lisa, but his father, the man convinced that everything comes from India, announces that the sitter is really a Gujarati washerwoman from Bhavnagar who is wondering how much the painter charges. As they tour the gallery, the son's arguments from the guidebook get nowhere: the Last Supper proves its Indian origins by leaving the women in the kitchen, Picasso's jumbled faces and Lowry's matchstick figures are said to come straight from Delhi, and Rubens, Botticelli and Michelangelo are each claimed in turn, the last for decorating a ceiling the way only an Indian restaurant would. Finally the son triumphantly points to the Statue of David as an ideal of male perfection, and his father has to concede that this one, at least, is not Indian.

Highly quotable.
Of course it's inspiring, because it's Indian.
Ah, the painter of the Sistine Tandoori.
Only an Indian restaurant would have a ceiling painted like that.
