Buddhist Pest Control
The setup
The premise
Here’s the bit.
A harried homeowner welcomes a man from the 'East Meets Pest' agency into her mouse-infested kitchen, only to discover from his orange robe that he is a Buddhist. He has brought neither bait nor traps: instead he has brought a small potted tree for the mice to sit under and meditate their way to enlightenment, which he insists will also sort out their toilet habits. When she demands he simply kill them, he offers increasingly unhinged alternatives, from provoking the mice into political protest to having a colleague make them behave so badly they are reborn as easy-to-catch stones. She finally orders him out, and his parting offer of a far less squeamish colleague is even worse.
The funny people
Meet the cast. 2
Say it with us
Highly quotable.
Actually, I'm a Buddhist.
Buddha teaches us there is more than one way to get rid of mice. We do not have to stoop to killing.
They will reach nirvana, where there are more enlightened toilet facilities for mice.
