The premise

Here’s the bit.

At a candlelit family dinner in a gloomy manor, the maid bursts in to warn that the Frankenstein monster has returned and is headed for the house. The father insists the creature was destroyed years ago and scolds her as a confused old woman, while the family argues over what the muffled voice at the door is saying, guessing at everything from a man named Edward to someone returning garden tools. Ignoring her pleas, the father pushes past her and opens the door, and the monster tears through the dining room, throttling and flinging the family. When the dust settles, he launches into a long, groveling apology to the maid as the monster strangles her, then turns and apologizes just as effusively to the monster. The pleased monster finally strolls out, and the father rushes to his dazed wife, thrilled that he got to speak with it.

Highly quotable.

The monster was destroyed years ago!

I think he said something about returning the hedge clippers.

Looks like I owe you a bit of an apology.

    Speaker 2

Looks like I owe you a bit of an apology. Really, you can't imagine how foolish I feel right now. Honestly, I could just kick myself. You were completely right in everything you said. Did I listen? Did I believe you? Oh, of course not. That would have been too difficult. All I have to do is pay attention to you for three seconds and this whole stupid bunch of business would have been avoided. Oh, you told me at least five times he was coming. You said the monster's coming, the monster's coming. I can only hope that you'll accept my sincerest, most heartfelt apology for this great disservice I've afforded you. No, anyway, I did a disservice to him, too. And for that reason, I hope that you, too, will accept my most humble and sincere apology for this inexcusable faux pas. Well, you see, this woman whom you're strangling tried ghastly, ghastly to warn us. But did I listen? Oh, did I believe her? Oh, it just burns me up. You know, I just hope you do understand that I'm awfully, terribly, terribly, terribly sorry for the way things have worked out. So. So, you do understand. No, you're not mad, right? Darling,
