It's Illegal to Say

Trevor Moore presents a satirical PSA about what is and isn't illegal to say regarding threats against the President of the United States. The sketch humorously explores the fine legal distinctions around making statements like "I want to kill the President," explaining that it's illegal to say such things, but it's acceptable to say that it's illegal to say them. The sketch escalates with increasingly specific examples of hypothetical threats, all under the guise of explaining what one cannot legally express. This sketch became one of WKUK's most enduring and referenced pieces and was even cited in a Supreme Court case (Elonis v. United States, 575 U.S. 723, 2015).

Also known as "I Want to Kill the President". Referenced in Supreme Court case Elonis v. United States (2015). Spawned the internet meme of adding "in Minecraft" or "in GTA" after potentially threatening statements.
