The premise

Here’s the bit.

Chip Esten, the night's winner, reads the setup from his desk: Drew Carey and Wayne Brady are old friends meeting for the first time in twenty years. While the pair catch up on marriages, divorces and dating services, Colin Mochrie and Ryan Stiles wait on them as though they were working a ballpark, sliding into the table, flashing coaching signals, chasing pop flies and turning every bit of service into baseball jargon. When the diners finally ask for an entree, the request swells into a stadium-style chant and a face-to-face argument fit for a manager disputing a call.

Notes from the archive.

As the night's winner, Chip Esten sat out this closing game and read its scene suggestion; it was the last game of the Season 6 finale, first broadcast on ABC on September 4, 2004.
