Refreshing Beer 3
The setup
The premise
Here’s the bit.
Inside an empty pub, the landlord sets out the stools and, as the clock reaches eleven, unbolts the front door. Waiting outside are Graham and John, the pair whose polite drinking session ended at closing time earlier in the episode. Fidgeting, they feign delight at discovering the place has just opened and, remarking on what a pleasant day it is, talk themselves into popping in for a refreshing glass of beer before hurrying past the landlord, who steps out and surveys the quiet street.

Notes from the archive.
This is the last of three Refreshing Beer instalments in the fifth episode; in the earlier two, Graham and John move from pints of beer on to whisky and vodka until the landlord calls time.
