The premise

Here’s the bit.

In a candlelit drawing room, guests in crinolines and dress uniforms trade gossip about a reckless acquaintance's grisly fate before turning their attention to the piano. A wild-haired, sideburned pianist begins with a sober, stately introduction, then fixes his gaze on a young gentleman in the audience and launches into a passionate parlour-style performance of Electric Six's "Gay Bar". The red-coated officer and his companion watch stone-faced, while the singer's gestures grow ever more theatrical, a lady collapses to the carpet and others rush about in alarm as he plays on regardless.
