Detective Doesn't Want Specifics
The setup
The premise
Here’s the bit.
An eyewitness tries to describe an arson suspect to a detective who considers accurate information an unfair shortcut. He interrupts details about the suspect’s appearance, the weapon and even the crime itself, turning an ordinary interview into an exercise in saying as little as possible. As the witness grows increasingly frustrated, he breaks a glass and ruins his donuts rather than listen. His insistence on tracking criminals like a hunting dog eventually becomes literal: he takes her handkerchief for its scent and heads out to investigate on his own.
