The premise

Here’s the bit.

Bean tries to be a considerate reader, quietly arranging his supplies and suppressing a noisy hiccup. A tracing mishap leaves crayon on a precious book, and each attempted repair damages it further. With the librarian nearby, Bean tries to pass the wrecked volume to another reader, but returning for his forgotten bookmark exposes his deception.
