The premise

Here’s the bit.

In documentary interviews, veteran actor Sir Charlie Northanger and director Tony Pastry insist age is irrelevant to his casting as the hero of a stage adaptation of The Matrix, though Sir Charlie keeps calling the character Neil and Tony admits the real draw is a name West End audiences remember. In rehearsals for the scene where martial arts are uploaded into the hero's brain, Sir Charlie delivers the famous line as though greeting an old friend called Kung Fu, and when a young co-star obligingly offers to play Kung Fu, the scene only becomes more confused until Sir Charlie suggests a cup of tea.

Say it with us

Highly quotable.

Neil takes the red pill and discovers he's in the Matrix for eight shows a week, including bank holidays, for 12 weeks, and I couldn't be happier.

I'm saying I know Kung Fu, but Kung Fu's not here.

And Kung Fu isn't a person.
