The premise

Here’s the bit.

Two bricklayers work from a suspended platform outside a tall building. Instead of filling the opening across its width, they pile bricks into a narrow column between them. As the column grows, the overloaded platform bows and gives way, sending the workers and their fresh brickwork plunging out of sight.
