The premise

Here’s the bit.

A woman relaxing with coffee answers the door to Dan, a neighbor who has run out of coffee for his own guests, and their cosy chat over mugs stretches through cup after cup until he remembers his party and hurries off. When she later turns up at his door bearing coffee, he brushes her off because he has company, and she accuses him of using her and walking away. Her outburst unsettles his guests, and an announcer's slogan plays over a shot of her sitting wild-haired and clutching a coffee pot. The next morning, as Dan and his wife look forward to their first cup, she rises screaming from the bathtub in a send-up of the thriller's famous climax before the commercial closes on the product.

Say it with us

Highly quotable.

You said that three cups ago.

You just drop by and drink my coffee and then toss me aside like so many used grounds?

Coffee so good, it can't be ignored.

A little extra

Notes from the archive.

A parody of Nescafé's serialized Taster's Choice coffee commercials, in which two neighbors' romance unfolds over borrowed coffee, crossed with the 1987 thriller Fatal Attraction.

The rabbit hole continues

One more couldn’t hurt.
