Stupid Deaths: Knights Templar
The setup
The premise
Here’s the bit.
After swapping dental chat with the skeletons on his panel, Death calls up contestant 1187: three Knights Templar, whom he promptly mistakes for a boy band in need of a catchier name. The knights insist they belong to one of the most feared fighting orders of the Crusades, but Death is far more interested in the dreadful smell, which the mud-caked knight sheepishly admits is coming from him. He explains that during a night raid on a Saracen camp he tripped over a tent pole and plunged headfirst into a hole that turned out to be the camp toilet, where he got stuck and drowned. His comrades add that the racket woke the whole camp, so the Saracens surrounded and killed the rest of them too. A delighted Death trades insults and toilet puns with the group, waves them through to the afterlife with a pointed tip about where the showers are, and turns down a skeleton's plea to mentor the band.

Highly quotable.
Look, a boy band.
You fell headfirst into a toilet and then you drowned!
Poop being the operative word.
A little extra
Notes from the archive.
All three knights wear contestant number 1187, the year of death given for this instalment. That year Saladin crushed the crusader army at the Battle of Hattin, where captured Templars were executed, and went on to take Jerusalem.
