The premise

Here’s the bit.

Worshippers gathered around a shrine take turns proclaiming that their offerings to the statue have been miraculously consumed: weeks-old milk, a stick of incense and finally a fast-food meal. Each claim collapses under a little questioning, until one sceptic lectures the group that true faith should not need cheap supernatural tricks. At that moment the statue appears to come alive, sending everyone, sceptic included, to their knees, only for the deity to respond in a way none of them expected.

Highly quotable.

Leaving just a chalky white deposit and a strange smell.

Why do we need a miracle? I mean, isn't your faith enough?
