The premise

Here’s the bit.

At a gourmet grocery checkout, a woman paying for a bottle of wine is delighted when the young cashier says they need to see her ID, joking that it has been years since anyone asked. The cashier cheerfully clarifies that the check is for the seniors discount, since people in their fifties often try to sneak it. When she reveals she is 39, the mortified cashier tries to recover by praising how much life she must have lived, comparing her to plane-crash survivors stranded in the Alps and wondering whether she has trekked across a desert. Deflated, the customer opens the wine and takes long swigs straight from the bottle at the counter before trudging off, and the cashier greets the next shopper by asking for her ID.
