Fire Marshal Bill Burns, portrayed by Jim Carrey, is a crazed, masochistic (and supposedly immortal) fire marshal with a manic grin and laugh along with a scarred face whose safety advisories usually include demonstrating (on himself) the very disaster he is warning against. In this particular sketch, during Fire Safety Week, Fire Marshal Bill stops by a family's house for a home safety demonstration. Freak accidents include an outlet and a fork, a stove, and a big explosion, all of which Bill survives. Every sketch in the series illustrates a timeline of readily-visible damage on Bill from previous episodes. Despite each sketch showing him lose parts of his body, Bill never dies. Every sketch ends with Fire Marshal Bill blowing up the facility he is teaching at.
