Planet Earth

The pilot of a nature program called Earth Planet opens on sweeping footage of jungles, rivers and exotic birds, while a calm narrator delivers confidently wrong facts about the birds, including a made-up sandwich bird. Partway through, he chokes on candy he has been sneaking during the recording, and the serene animal footage keeps rolling while the audio turns into a crisis: the crew panics, an alien bursts out of the narrator's chest, his colleague locks him in the booth, and a police tactical team storms the studio. The tape ends, and two network executives who have been watching it are thrilled by the result and want to order a full season, unbothered that no one who made it survived.
