His preference turns into a musical tour of the neighborhood, complete with canine trivia, a Napoleon cameo and a complaint about dressing dogs in bandannas. The cheerful tribute veers into a cemetery bass solo and an interruption to dismiss some gratuitous dancers before resuming in French. Back at the original encounter, his certainty has persuaded the owner to part with her perfectly good dog.
