The premise

Here’s the bit.

After finally placing Shelley Long, five friends at a table piled with Wonder bread turn to a stranger topic when one of them asks whether anyone has ever beaten up his dad. Nobody has, but everyone has clearly thought about it, and the hypothetical becomes a contest of increasingly elaborate ambush fantasies involving wedding dance floors, TV trays, a stuffed marlin and a father's own lawn. When the instigator says he simply loves his father and asks whether the others have ever told their dads that, the group discovers that saying it out loud is the one attack none of them has the nerve to try.

Say it with us

Highly quotable.

Hey, any of you guys ever beat up your dad?

No more ALF today, Daddy.

I would shame him with his own lawn.
