The premise

Here’s the bit.

An eager host introduces three very different couples: young parents, an inseparable pair of beauty-contest entrants, and an older bride who is alarmed by her new husband. Questions about kissing produce mismatched answers, embarrassing admissions and increasingly anxious protests. When the winning couple receives a sofa that unfolds into a double bed, the prize proves more than the nervous bride can bear.

Highly quotable.

Thirty uninterrupted minutes of bad taste.

I don’t think she means me.

A little extra

Notes from the archive.

Vicki Lawrence later recalled the newlywed-game parody as an early opportunity to develop a comic character, playing the wife of writer Kenny Solms.
