The Fruit Stand
The setup
The premise
Here’s the bit.
Played without dialogue at a cluttered street-market stall, Benny Hill's fruit seller is serving a customer when a hand sneaks in and snatches an apple. He blames a schoolgirl with a ball until the policeman he calls over is caught munching the missing fruit, then confronts an old woman tipping his oranges into her pram, only for a revolver to poke out at him from under the blankets. Two young women stroll off with suspiciously lumpy jumpers, but when he follows them behind the stall he has no way to get his fruit back, and at last a mugger holds him up and takes his suit. Left in leopard-print underpants, he flees from three policewomen and the rest of the market in the closing credit chase.
