The premise

Here’s the bit.

Presented as a Midnight Matinee short, the film opens at the funeral of an eccentric inventor, where his widow admits he cared more about his creations than about her. Alone in the house, she finds a small wheeled robot in his workshop, nicknames it Petey and leans on it through quiet dinners and nights on the couch. Six years later the robot weighs in as she browses a dating site, and after a pleasant dinner she invites her date, Tom, inside to meet Petey. The robot unfolds into a towering weapon, maims Tom and blasts him with a laser, leaving the blood-spattered widow convinced that her husband loved her after all.
