Cast List 2 - SNL
The setup
The premise
Here’s the bit.
A group of high school students anxiously wait for their drama teacher Mr. Koenig to post the cast list for their spring musical, Grease. Koenig draws out the reveal, insults and manipulates the students, and reminds them that their fall production of The Color Purple with an all-white cast was supposedly brave. His returning favorite Casper is now an assistant, while music director/choir teacher Ms. Peebles joins to test the students' range and push them through humiliating auditions.

Say it with us
Highly quotable.
Lunch is almost over, and Mr. Koenig still hasn't posted the cast list.
It's Grease, Madison. There's, like, a ton of speaking roles.
This show needs to be a hit after the fall musical flopped.
But I still contend that doing The Color Purple with an all-white cast was brave.
The school board is pressuring me to cast one particular student....I won't say who, but I'm 'wheelie, wheelie' mad about it.
Ever since I booked that Honey Nut Cheerios commercial, Mr. Koenig's been, like, weirdly jealous and mean to me.
A couple of things about me. First of all, some people say that I'm too handsy with boys. That's a lie!

Notes from the archive.
NBC identifies the sketch as a sequel to Ferrell's Season 45 cut-for-time sketch 'Cast List' from his 2019 hosting episode. The 2026 sequel was posted May 17, 2026 and had about 1.95M YouTube views and 34.9K likes when researched. Audience comments noted that Mikey Day's Casper is the only student character actor remaining from the original sketch's SNL-era cast; in-story, Casper has stayed on as an assistant. The sketch also features Molly Shannon's guest appearance as Ms. Peebles and brought together nearly every Season 51 player.
