The First Guy To Ever Work In An Office
The setup
The premise
Here’s the bit.
A businessman offers to pay for pieces of a stranger’s time and gives him a tour of the new office. The recruit discovers a bleak room full of cubicles, arbitrary dress rules and a schedule that leaves little energy for anyone outside work. His employer presents tiny raises, a window and eventual retirement as rewards for decades of making someone else rich. With bills to pay, the recruit accepts, then asks whether his wages will keep up with rising living costs.
