Timbers Sign

Before heading to their first Portland Timbers game, Peter and Nance stop at a copy shop to have a supportive sign made. Their simple message balloons as they hover over the young clerk, ordering endless zooms, nudges and clip art: soccer balls, a smiley face, a stop sign, a recycling symbol, a legal blood-alcohol reminder and a nod to pregnant fans. Unsatisfied, they scrap the whole design and start over. At the stadium, when a TV camera finally finds them in the crowd, they hold up what they ended up with: a simple drawing of their cat kicking a ball, and they lead the section in a chant on its behalf.
