Flash and Lightning face off at the 1987 Jazz Fit Championships. Their cheerful television performance is interrupted by messages from the backstage crew about a family emergency. The production team insists that the show continue, even as the updates grow more disturbing and the dancers struggle to maintain their smiles. A final revelation turns their competition into a furious confrontation.
