An elderly gentleman shuffles into a bookshop looking for a famous book on fly fishing, only to find the shelves bare: the two assistants put the sell-out down to the power of advertising. All they have left is a mountain of unsold telephone directories. The old man is delighted, but insists he must order his copy by phone, so he borrows the shop's telephone and places the order with an unseen voice while the baffled assistants look on, before spelling out his name in a reversal of the famous Yellow Pages commercial.
The sketch reverses the 1983 Yellow Pages television commercial in which an elderly man, played by Norman Lumsden, searches second-hand bookshops for Fly Fishing by J. R. Hartley before tracking it down by phone.
