Paul McCartney plays a meek triangle player who gets bossed around by Martin Short's domineering character until he finally gets his chance to shine with "Wonderful Christmastime."
Christmas

I'M the one with the million dollar voice!
I like to sing... BE. QUIET!!!!
If you could sing, THEENNN YOU'D SING!!
I'm assuming you read music
I found you in a tree! I was chasing a bird
I quit! Best of luck to your solo career.

Martin Short plays Caleb, a domineering and egotistical cousin auditioning for a holiday pageant alongside his meek partner Monte (played by Paul McCartney). Throughout the audition, Caleb constantly belittles Monte and refuses to let him sing, insisting that he himself has "the million dollar voice" while Monte should stick to playing the triangle. After several put-downs and interruptions ("I like to sing..." "BE. QUIET!!!!"), Caleb finally storms off in a huff, declaring "Best of luck to your solo career!" Monte then gets his chance to shine, performing "Wonderful Christmastime" with the New York City Children's Choir. The sketch seamlessly transitions from comedy into Paul McCartney's actual musical performance, with the stage transforming around him. The comedy comes from the absurdity of telling Paul McCartney - one of the most famous singers in history - that he can't sing and should just play triangle.
