What kind of night was it? It was a SILENT night. I'm talking too much, I'd better hush up!
An 8 CD collection of them singing ONE SONG
49-minute version of Silent Night
24-minute Deck the Halls

In this holiday-themed commercial parody, the soul/gospel duo Cephus and Reesie promote their new Christmas album collection. The sketch lampoons gospel and R&B singers who excessively embellish songs with dramatic vocal runs, screams, and elongated notes. They advertise an 8 CD set featuring absurdly extended versions of Christmas classics including a 49-minute rendition of "Silent Night," a 24-minute "Deck the Halls," and an entire 8 CD collection devoted solely to "The 12 Days of Christmas." Throughout the parody commercial, Cephus demonstrates his over-the-top vocal style with dramatic gospel screams while Reesie plays the more reserved straight woman to his excessive energy.

The Cephus and Reesie characters were modeled slightly after the musical duo Ashford & Simpson. These recurring characters appeared in multiple sketches throughout In Living Color, including performances at a Broadway tour, Bar Mitzvah, and Death Row. The sketch is a format parody of television infomercials/album advertisements common in the 1990s. Video has garnered over 336,000 views on YouTube. Duration: 2 minutes 44 seconds
