Merry Christmas!

In this dark comedy twist on Charles Dickens' classic tale, Ebenezer Scrooge (Martin Short) wakes up on Christmas morning completely transformed and eager to spread joy. He enthusiastically tosses heavy gold coins out his window to the poor people below, but the coins end up horrifically maiming his neighbors instead of helping them. The Christmas Ghost (Steve Martin) tries to provide guidance but can't be seen by others, making Scrooge appear to be a psychopath. The sketch features increasingly absurd slapstick violence including blinded orphans, a horse kicking off someone's head, and Tiny Tim getting knocked back into a sewer. The Ghost backs away slowly, advising Scrooge to "lawyer up." The sketch ends with Scrooge offering to pay with Apple Pay.

Directed by Mike Diva. Praised as one of the best SNL Christmas sketches. Compared favorably to Monty Python's style of comedy. Featured strong positive audience reaction with over 2.3 million views and 33,545 likes on YouTube. Described as an "instant classic" by multiple viewers. Cecily Strong reached her 900th milestone sketch on SNL with this episode.
