These are the Daves I know, I know / These are the Daves I know
David Hoffner / He works in my dad's store / He's worked here for 12 years / He'll probably work here four more
Dave Gord / I've known since I was six / In grade eight he broke his leg / So we got drunk and sick
Some of them are Davids / (But most of us are Daves) / They all have their own hands / But they come from different mums
Dave Jadisky / Man this cat can swing / He weighs almost 50 pounds / And he delivers my paper on time
Dave Capisano / I hardly know him

In this memorable musical sketch, Bruce McCulloch performs an upbeat, folk-style song listing all the Daves (and Davids) he knows in his life. Each Dave gets a brief but specific description - from David Hoffner who works in his dad's store, to Dave Gord who broke his leg in grade eight, to Dave Jadisky who weighs almost 50 pounds and delivers his paper on time. The song has an infectious chorus ("These are the Daves I know, I know / These are the Daves I know") that repeats throughout. In a perfect comedic touch, Dave Foley - the only actual "Dave" in the Kids in the Hall troupe - makes a brief appearance at the very end of the sketch, giving Bruce a courtesy handshake. The absurdist humor comes from turning something completely mundane (knowing multiple people with the same common name) into an earnest, heartfelt musical performance.
