You know why it boils? Because it's hot, that's why.
And that end gets hot and that's combustion.
Now get lost!

Johnny LaRue (John Candy) hosts a children's educational show called "Mr. Science" while clearly hungover. In this episode, he teaches a young boy (Donald Cowper, John Candy's real-life nephew) about "science" through highly inappropriate lessons. LaRue demonstrates how to make instant coffee, explains that TVs have "scanners in there," and teaches about combustion by lighting cigarettes. The sketch is a brilliant parody of educational children's programming, with LaRue's disheveled, irresponsible behavior contrasting sharply with the earnest format of educational TV shows like "Mr. Wizard."

This is a repeat from Series 1, Episode 5 (originally aired in 1977). Listed as "Mr. Science: Coffee (R1)" in the SCTV Guide. Donald Cowper is John Candy's real nephew.
